Everyone loves a great conspiracy theory. Just hang around the fish dock for a day and you’ll be sure to get your fill. Hollywood sure as hell loves a conspiracy, and they are turning to their favorite locale of late in Montauk to focus on the mother of all conspiracies that started circulating in the 1940’s about The Montauk Project, in a recent Netflix order of the Duffer Bros (and Shawn Levy produced) new show, “Montauk.”
While not saying it’s directly following the framework of that one, we are starting a conspiracy that it is. Deadline describes the plot as “a love letter to the ’80s classics that captivated a generation, the series is set in 1980 Montauk, Long Island, where a young boy vanishes into thin air. As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.” Yes. please.
Set to start filming in Montauk next Fall, this one is sure to be on our radar when its released. We will be sure to keep you posted on any crew news, unless we’re told to keep quiet. For more on the series check out Slashfilm.
