Unless you’re way ahead of us on East End events worth attending, you might be happy to know that the Montauk Playhouse Foundation’s annual fundraising Gala takes place this Saturday, August 5th. And this year’s Gala has a pretty special/awesome theme—celebrating the dynamic, authentic surf culture of Montauk. One of the most anticipated Hamptons’ summer events, the Gala brings together the year-round and seasonal residents for a great party on the grounds of the historic Montauk Playhouse. With Donavon Frankenreiter headlining music, the event will honor local artists and activists who have captured the spirit of Montauk through their various works.

Honorees include Tony Caramanico, a legendary local surfer and artist, Peter Spacek, a cartoonist, artist, and surfer, James Katsipis, renowned surf photographer, and Evelyn O’Doherty, a community activist and surf instructor.

There will also be a special tribute to journalist, author, and surfer, Rusty Drumm. As a journalist, Drumm frequently wrote about Montauk’s commercial and recreational connection to our shoreline.

For more details, visit the Gala site where you can purchase tickets, bid on auction items online, or just donate to the cause.
