If you drove through Montauk town today, you may have seen a small pile of trash on the green with a sign that read something along the lines of, “Keep our beaches clean.”
The Surfrider Foundation is making an effort to do just that.
On Wednesday, 40 volunteers came out to a beach cleanup along the beaches of Montauk put on by Surfrider. Volunteers picked up everything from balloons to shoes to fishing trash, in attempts to keep the beaches looking nice for both the locals and the visitors.
The cleanup was sponsored by Finlandia Vodka, who presented the Surfrider chapter with $5,000 for their work in the area.
Shoutout to Surf Lodge and Harbor restaurant volunteers who pitched in to help with the cleanup.
Thanks for keeping our beaches clean.
