A Nice Saturday at Gin Beach

The yellow dog, a beach clean up and a bonfire

We’ve voiced this opinion before, but we like to surround ourselves with people who like to do good. Like the ones who enjoy picking up trash on the beach. Good for the big blue and pretty much everyone else. Including the yellow dog. Recently, we teamed up with Starborough Wines and Boxed Water™ to do just that. Turned out to be a pretty nice Saturday afternoon.

Our friends at Starborough Wines and Boxed Water really give a damn about the ocean. Might have guessed that from the whole beach clean-up thing—could be the reason you’re here right now. Starborough donates a dollar to Oceana with every bottle sold and Boxed Water is, well, water in a box. So none of those here-for-eternity plastic bottles we’ve all come to loathe and let accumulate in our cars at one time or another. Together with some of our closest friends, we gathered to give Gin Beach a little end-of-summer cleaning.

Sadly, there was much more trash than we expected, but the good news is, we were there to pick it up. We set out on the sand, grabbing and bagging anything we could find that didn’t belong. The dog didn’t really help much, but she was definitely excited.

After grooming the beach, we had a nice end-of-summer bonfire. Starborough Sauvignon Blanc was flowing, Boxed Water was hydrating, great tunes were humming, and marshmallows were roasting. Can’t be a proper bonfire without s’mores.

The sunset really showed off for us as we sat by the fire and enjoyed everyone’s company. Even the rain tried to stop us, but spirits were high, wine glasses were enjoyed and it just so happens we have a shop right around the corner ideal for scenarios just like this. We all headed back to the Boneyard for a nice little nightcap.

Overall a great way to spend a September Saturday out East. The dog is thrilled. Special thanks to Starborough Wines and Boxed Water for helping us do a little good for the planet. Thanks for helping us keep the beaches clean you hippies.
