Whale Hello There: A Gray Whale Cocktail for World Gin Day

Of all the gin joints in all the towns in the world you’ve walked into ours. And maybe gin is just the thing to have a bottle of in front of you when you are sitting in Morocco in in 1941 thinking about what time it is in New York right at that moment and then Sam plays that song and then… you know how the rest goes.

The reason for this trip into the 1940s is that Saturday, June 12 is World Gin Day, which is a definitely real and not at all made up holiday that our friends at Gray Whale Gin told us about. Gray Whale is a gin we like and the ingredients of which trace the migratory path of the gray whale up the California coast. So it’s not like we needed an excuse to watch Casablanca again or make a delicious cocktail with Gray Whale Gin, but here we are and now we have one for both of these things and thank you we will do both.

Gray Whale even sent us in this recipe which we are partial to for obvious reasons:

Whale Hello There

+ 2 oz Gray Whale Gin
+ .5 oz lime juice
+ .5 oz lemon juice
+ .5 oz agave syrup

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and pour in the gin, lime juice, lemon juice and agave. Shake vigorously and strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass, or strain over a rocks glass filled with ice, depending on preference. Garnish with a lemon twist and serve immediately.
