Blue Collar: The Big Leagues of New York Commercial Fishing

Blue Collar: Directed by Taylor Steele

The average professional baseball player will make roughly $3,000,000 in 2018. The average New York commercial fisherman will not make $3,000,000 in 2018.

In New York, you have two iconic groups. The New York Yankees and the New York commercial fisherman. Yes, there are also other important groups, but we’ll talk about those another time, for now, let’s focus on these two industry titans that seem to dominate the headlines and sense of pride that makes up New York. One gets up and goes to work at 4 a.m. religiously but almost thanklessly and other gets to go out on the open water to the smell the salt air of the ocean and the wind in their hair and sunrises and sunsets out by the lighthouse—to each their own, but there comes a time when you need to put things into perspective and recognize some of the star athletes that make their organization stronger—today is one of those days.

The following is a highlight reel, no pun intended, of some of the up and coming stars out of Montauk, New York, Tyler Maguire and Pat Havlik. This video was directed by Taylor Steele and supported by Whalebone Magazine and YETI. Thank you to the pride of New York, The Yankees, and all the families that support these guys on a consistent basis.
