Pizza Cities: San Francisco

Photo: Axel Antas-Bergkvist

San Francisco might just be our second favorite city in the country. Daytime activities include surfing, hiking, driving down swerving roads, hanging out on the street where they filmed Full House, wandering through one of their 54 museums, sporting events, getting lost in the country’s oldest Chinatown, playing 18 at the coolest indoor mini golf joint and of course, cable car riding. Night time activities, and daytime intermissions, consist of eating and drinking everything in sight—and there is a lot.

So much so, that we can’t even begin to list out all of the amazing restaurants and bars serving up a wide range of tasty cuisine, great cocktails, and more. For now, we’re just going to stick to guiding you on which pizza places you must hit when in the Bay Area.

Quick shoutout to our friends over at Fort Point Beer, who helped us shape this list of all things saucy and cheesy. Highly recommend their KSA with a slice, if you’re in the area.

3. MONTESACRO Pinseria-Enoteca

At Montesacro we make Pinsa, not pizza.  Pinsa is a flatbread that was once prepared by peasants living outside the imperial walls during the Roman empire. Montesacro is the first “Pinseria” in the United States, opened from April 2015. All Pinsas are named after Roman neighborhoods outside of the center, paying an homage to that Rome once populated by farmers and “not-so-rich” people.
