It’s a blessing and a curse (for my waistline) that a large part of my extracurricular activities is eating pizza with the coolest girls in NYC. It’s hard to get tired of pizza when NYC has the best pizza in the world. The pizza community here is unlike any other, and while I try to venture out to new spots, these remain my faves.
1. GG’s
GG’s has consistently been in my top three since the beginning of HGEP. I love the overall vibe: the people who work there, the music, the backyard garden-grown veggies, and the burger, too. Get the Grandma!
Address: 511 E 5th St
2. Williamsburg Pizza
Williamsburg Pizza has my favorite Tartufo slice. I don’t think I liked mushrooms until I had theirs. Williamsburg Pizza is always a hit at my parties, too. The old-school boxes are great for photos.
Address: 277 Broome St and 265 Union Ave (my preferred)

3. Rubirosa
Call me crazy, but Rubirosa has my favorite gluten free pizza in the city. The tie-dye pie is my go-to (vodka, pesto, tomato sauce). I only wish they still made it in a heart shape.
Address: 235 Mulberry St
4. Baker’s Pizza
The namesake pizza is so good thanks to the caramelized onion and ricotta. I’m also a sucker for a checkerboard pizza plate liner because aesthetic.
Address: 201 Avenue A

5. Best Pizza
Frank Pinello makes a damn good pizza and they play the best old-school hip-hop, too. I love the margherita.
Address: 33 Havemeyer St
6. Roberta’s
This is an obvious choice but necessary to mention. Eating in is an experience but take away is just as good. My favorite is the Bee Sting (off the menu).
Address: 261 Moore St

7. Two Boots
Multiple locations but 42 Avenue A and 558 Driggs Ave are my preferred
I feel like I’m family when I’m here. This is my go-to when I have a vegan pizza-date. My favorite non-vegan slice is the Animal Collective.
8. Sizzle Pie
So happy to welcome this Portland spot to Brooklyn. The branding is super fun and all of their vegan pies are amazing. My faves: Spiral Tap and The Ripper.
Address: 457 Graham Ave

9. Emmy Squared
If you like chewy, cheesy, crispy crust then this is the spot for you.
Address: 364 Grand St
10. Emmett’s
I don’t know another spot in NYC that does Chicago deep dish, and I don’t want to. I love the cozy, friendly vibe at Emmett’s.
Address: 50 Macdougal St
