Festival season is upon us! Coachella just rocked the desert, Governor’s Ball is coming in June, and us music lovers are straight up stoked!
As a matter of fact, our own town has quite the little music festival itself. This year Montauk is celebrating its 6th annual Montauk Music Festival, on the weekend of May 14-17. Presented annually by the Montauk sun, the free music festival will have 250 shows and over 100 bands, playing at 40 different locations throughout the town!
The celebration will begin Thursday night with an opening party at Gurney’s Inn.
The four day festival will feature up-coming independent artists, covering genres across the spectrum from rock, reggae, pop, folk, jazz, bluegrass and much more. Local artists include those in the likes of Dalton and Company, Jay Schneiderman & Obed Jean, The Montauk Project and Megan Leonardo, among many others!
The festival is volunteer operated and designed to celebrate and promote the Montauk music scene and local community. Every year, local businesses and individuals support the festival in order to promote Montauk’s unique personality. It’s a great precursor to summer and really gets people buzzing with Memorial Day the following weekend!
So mark your calendars and get to MTK for some early season action! For more information on locations, featured artists and to-dos for the weekend, check out www.montaukmusicfestival.com
