Making the Best of Oahu and a Broken Nikon

Not-Disposable Photography Taken with Disposable Cameras by Tahnei Roy

While I’m home on Oahu, I pretty much always have either my Nikon or a disposable in my bag. On my last trip home my favorite Nikon broke, so Foodland disposables had to do for most of the trip.

All of the shots are spontaneous: pick up the camera, point it and shoot. They are raw moments between close friends and I, and they seem to show more real personality than some of my digital work. When I look back at these photos it brings me to the moment the photo was taken, what my friend’s laugh sounded like, how salty my skin felt after being in the ocean all day, the smell of my sister’s nachos.

These always come out to be some of my favorite photos that ill cherish forever.

A nice surprise from my Nikon before it broke.

My twin sis. Favorite time of the day is when the light shines on the house and creates these shadows

Big smiles, last one out.

Solo beach runs. One of the things I miss most about being home.

I’d tell you who’s butt this is, but what fun would that be.
