Blank Books Back in Montauk

AllSwell Writing Workshop Thursday at Quincy MTK

We’re big fans of ink on paper. No surprise. And we’re big fans of Laura Rubin and her trademark AllSwells, which she’ll be bringing back east with a journaling workshop in Montauk on Thursday night (5-6:30 pm) at Quincy Davis’ retail space Quincy MTK.

“Laura’s workshops are mellow and designed help each of us access our individual creative voice, (And we all have one..!),” says Quincy Davis. “I am so excited, as this will be a first for me, too!”

I got skunked. So I grabbed a cup of tea from the Ditch Witch, walked over to Big Rock, sat on the sand and journaled instead. I wrote, ‘Swell or no swell, all’s well.’

Rubin’s brand of blank notebooks, AllSwell, was born in Montauk during a morning surf check gone wrong. “I got skunked. So I grabbed a cup of tea from the Ditch Witch, walked over to Big Rock, sat on the sand and journaled instead. I wrote, ‘Swell or no swell, all’s well.’ It might be kinda corny, but it’s true.”

As a life-long journaler, Rubin is on a mission to remove the “Dear Diary” stigma from the act of keeping a journal. She has rolled out a series of workshop-based events to help people connect with their innate creativity. From Tofino to Tahiti, she leads participants through accessible writing and drawing-based activities to help them tap into their own innate creative voice.

And now she’s bringing AllSwell back to where it all began. We’ll see you there
