Real Estate Rants vol. 2: “Briar Patch”

$140M … $140M for a home … nothing else needs to be said, rant over already.

But really, Forbes.com just reported on this newly listed $140M home on Georgica Pond in East Hampton, making it one of the most expensive properties in the country, let alone the Hamptons.

The home is that of a well-known education entrepreneur Chris Whittle. He recently listed this 11-acre Hamptons estate, at 90 Briar Lane, under the name “Briar Patch.”

“Briar Patch,” lies on a quarter-mile of waterfront property and the listing includes a 10,000-square-foot home with a four-bedroom guest home, featuring handmade wallpaper on the walls, hand-stenciled ceilings, a sunken tennis court, a pool and hot tub as well as a special gym on the third floor of the main home that overlooks the Atlantic, and that’s just a few of the special aspects of the property.

The property is sprinkled with trees and is known for its luscious landscape, as well as serving home to a private pond. The “modest” 3,500-square-foot guest home has its own private drive, and is bigger than most of the homes we spend thousands of dollars sharing or paying mortgages on ourselves, not to mention, the property is subdivided into two buildable lots with potential for even more homes than there already are on the property.

We are mind blown … rant over. Check it out on forbes.com.
