For 2022, Whalebone has teamed up with Graduate Hotels, beautifully designed places to stay in college towns across the US, to bring our audiences four in-person event experiences at select Graduate locations. Aptly named “The Extra Credit Series”—these events coincide with some better-than-good Whalebone Magazine issue themes for the year: Comedy, Photography, National Parks, and Dolly Parton—each event is tailored to a theme and will impart a little knowledge, a few laughs, and hopefully, a good time had by all.

Graduate happens to be the place to stay if you’re in your formative years—college etc. So what better place to understand a little bit more about what it means to channel your inner Dolly Parton and how to properly scoot those boots? In collaboration with Lee, Whalebone put together The Dolly Parton Issue, celebrating the essence of the Queen of Country and all the good she brings to the world. To celebrate, Whalebone x Graduate Hotels hosted a good old fashioned issue release party.
We kicked off the pink-themed party up in White Limozeen—The Dolly Parton-inspired bar that sits on the roof of Graduate Nashville, with a hundred or so of our cowboy boot-wearin’ friends. With custom-embroidered tote bags, a whole lotta Dolly Parton Issues, a nice selection of festive cocktails, and a heated, yet friendly dance competition, we feel as though we did Dolly proud.
Weren’t able to make it? Don’t get your denim in a wad about it. Instead the party playlist from DJ John Stamps on nice and loud, throw on your best pair of jeans and your favorite cowboy boots and get ready to move your feet. Like you didn’t miss a thing.
