Welcome to The 19th Hole

Some say the 19th Hole is the most important hole in golf. We find that when a writer uses a phrase like “some say,” it usually means that the writer might actually be the only one who thinks that. We won’t quarrel with that perspective, but we will invite you for a spirited debate over a tipple at the bar we’ve decided to open up at the end of The Golf Issue we did in collaboration with Callaway. This is what’s on the menu.

The Drinks

Golden Teekee

Best when set atop everybody’s favorite barroom golf “simulator.” Two of these, and you won’t care what your score was that day.

1/3 c. Fresh pineapple, peeled
2 oz. Coconut milk
1/4 oz.
2 3/4 oz. Anejo tequila
Orgeat
Exotic Bitters

Combine all ingredients in a blender with ice and blend until slushy. Pour into a tiki glass, garnish with slice of the peel from the pineapple with a tee holding a maraschino cherry through it and serve with a metal straw.

Rusty Putter

Either our bar’s take on a Rusty Nail with a nod to golf’s Lowlands heritage, or something you shouldn’t look up on Urban Dictionary.

2 oz. Lowland, single-malt Scotch whisky (such as Glenkitchie)
1/2 oz. Drambuie

Combine in a rocks glass over one large, hand-cut ice cube if you are in one of those fancy old-timey bars that gets ice deliveries. You aren’t though, so you’ll probably just pour it into a glass half full of some bar ice. Stir to mix. Serve.

Kentucky Bentgrass Sour

Classic and smooth with the occasional bad bounce.

2 oz. Kentucky Rye
3/4 oz. Lemon juice
1 tsp. Lemongrass simple syrup
Old Fashioned Bitters

Combine ingredients in mixing glass over ice, shake well until frothy. Strain either into a small, chilled cocktail glass or over ice in a rocks glass. Add a dash or two of bitters on top, garnish with lemon zest and drop in a maraschino cherry.

Dark & Stormy Stormy Daniels

In recognition of our golfingest President’s greatest achievement.

Juice 1/2 Meyer lemon
Fentiman’s Mandarin and Seville Orange Jigger (with fermented ginger root extract)
2 oz. Spiced rum
Orange bitters

Fill highball glass three-quarters of the way with cracked ice. Add lemon juice, dash of bitters, and rum, stir well. Top with Fentiman’s, or, fuck it, Fanta, because it doesn’t matter. Nothing matters anymore. Garnish with flaming orange wheel, toss in dumpster fire.

The Last Hole

Put yourself over the edge and make your spouse angry.

2 oz. Fuzzy’s Vodka
1/2 oz. Green Chartreuse
1/2 oz. Canton Ginger liqueur

Combine in tin. Hard shake with ice, serve in chilled, rounded martini glass, garnish with Luxardo cherry on a pick.

Club House

Members only Allen, we don’t care who you know.

2 oz. Empress 1908 Gin
1 oz. St. Germain’s Elderflower liqueur
3 oz Fever Tree Indian Tonic
Squeeze lemon.

Fill high-ball glass with crushed ice, begin with Empress gin and layer Elderflower liqueur, then top with Fever Tree tonic. Squeeze lemon over top. Garnish with lemon wheel.
